History Timeline Wall Vinyls

Kentmere Academy is a primary academy based in Rochdale with a commitment to providing high-quality education to its pupils. At Hive, we have had the privilege of working with Kentmere Academy on multiple projects in the past, which has cultivated a strong and trusted partnership. The latest collaboration between Kentmere Academy and Hive aimed to enhance the school environment. This was achieved through a visually impactful and educational wall graphics design and installation project. Overall, the project’s primary objective was to create bespoke history timeline wall vinyls that highlighted key dates and events aligning with the school’s history curriculum.

Project Overview

Client Goals: Kentmere Academy sought to transform a large wall area in the school hall into an educational and visually engaging space. Furthermore, the goal was to provide pupils with a historical perspective on key milestones in British, and World history while also fostering an inspiring learning environment.

Design Inspiration: Firstly, our design team collaborated closely with the Kentmere Academy staff to understand their unique requirements. The design focused on showcasing significant milestones and historical events.

Scope of Work: Hive’s scope of work encompassed design conceptualisation, material selection, production and professional installation. Furthermore, the team also ensured the project met safety standards and could withstand daily wear and tear.

Challenges

Several challenges had to be addressed during the project:

Maintaining Historical Accuracy: Ensuring that the historical timeline was factually accurate and aligned with the school’s history curriculum required extensive research and cross-referencing.

Design Aesthetics: The challenge was to create a visually appealing design that captured the attention of pupils while maintaining the educational focus.

Installation Logistics: The installation had to be executed with minimal disruption to the school’s daily operations.

The Solution

Our experienced team approached the project with meticulous planning and creative design solutions. The following key steps were taken to address the challenges:

Research and Collaboration: Extensive research was conducted to ensure the accuracy of historical information. In addition, collaboration with Kentmere Academy’s staff allowed for the incorporation of specific milestones, local area history and curriculum-related content. Personalised dates such as the opening of the school provide further context to the pupils.

Custom Graphic Design: Our design team created a visually engaging timeline, which brought events of the history to life. The design features a central timeline with key civilisations and historical periods of time mapped out using useful colourful bars. The area above the timeline features World history and the area below the timeline features British history. As a result, this helps to sh0w pupils how our history unfolded in the context of Britain and the World. The mixture of photographic imagery with factual text bubbles created an immersive and educational experience for pupils.

Material Selection: A high-tac vinyl material was selected for the project. This also featured a textured laminate which overall created a durable and high-quality finish. Furthermore, these selections were chosen to ensure the longevity of the installation, making it resistant to daily wear and tear.

Professional Installation: Hive’s installation team worked efficiently and professionally, ensuring minimal disruption to the school’s routine. As with all our projects, wall primer was applied prior to fitting the wall vinyl to ensure long lasting adhesion to the wall would be maintained.
