Project Overview

Springfield Primary Academy in Grimsby, part of The Enquire Learning Trust, wanted to transform one of their school staircases into an educational space. After collaborating with Hive Education on their entrance area, they contacted us again for this project. This time, the focus was on creating impactful wall vinyls for their science-themed staircase. The goal was to create a dynamic environment covering key science areas: Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Project Brief

The academy envisioned using the staircase as a space for immersive learning. They wanted educational vinyls that would inspire curiosity and engagement among pupils. Therefore, we divided the staircase into three sections, each dedicated to a core science discipline—Biology, Chemistry and Physics. This thematic approach aimed to integrate science learning into students’ daily routines as they moved between floors.

After successfully completing the previous wall graphics project, we were very excited to work on this new challenge. The brief emphasised the need for vibrant, informative and factual wall vinyls. These would captivate students’ attention while reinforcing key science concepts.

Science Staircase Wall Vinyls Design

We began the design process by understanding the curriculum and identifying the key concepts for each section. We divided the staircase into three zones:

Biology: This section features visuals of food chains, life cycles, and human anatomy. These graphics make complex topics accessible and engaging.

Chemistry: The chemistry zone explores the states of matter, including solids, liquids and gases, and chemical reactions. We used vibrant colours and illustrations to simplify abstract concepts such as atomic and molecular structures.

Physics: The final section covers forces, gravity and space. Visuals depicting planets and magnetic fields aim to spark pupils’ interest in physics.

We carefully crafted each section to ensure accurate information presented in a visually engaging manner. Additionally, the bold colours, dynamic layouts and eye-catching images ensure the wall vinyls stand out and leave a lasting impression.

The Final Result

The science staircase wall vinyls at Springfield Primary Academy demonstrate the power of educational design. The staircase now functions as an interactive learning space where students encounter key scientific concepts daily. The biology, chemistry, and physics sections each offer a unique visual experience. This transformation makes the staircase both functional and educational.

As students ascend or descend the staircase, they engage with colorful and informative graphics. These reinforce their classroom learning, making science a part of their daily journey.
