Primary School Branding & Identity for St philips

St Philips CE Primary School

We were asked to refresh the school identity for St Philips CE Primary School by their new Headteacher. The school wanted a design that would be both legible and modern. The design needed to represent the ethos of the school and the caring ‘family’ environment which is nurtured at the school.

They also did not want to change the school uniform and signage straight away, so wanted a solution which would allow for this. Hive decided to maintain the crest from the old logo within the new design routes. So that any instances of the old version of the logo would still seamlessly tie-in with the new brand.

The school’s main colour was navy blue, this was used widely around school and for the uniform, so the school needed to keep this, but really wanted a change as well. Whilst navy blue looks professional and smart, it can be very dark used on it’s own. So Hive created a range of secondary colours also used with in the logo, which could be carried through the school and its new website. These colours brighten not only the school identity but the school environment as a whole.

We developed a number of design options which were presented to the school for consideration. Pupils, staff and parents then cast their the votes for their favourite design.

The winning logo features colourful, children and adults surrounding the school crest. These figures represent the supporting caring family ethos surrounding the school. Versions of the final logo were supplied to the school in numerous formats for their use. The logo has also now been used on their brand new website developed by Hive.
